question about new system

hello everyone,

i just upgraded to an IC7 mobo, 2 x 512 MB PC3500 hyperx kingston ram , and a P4 2.6C. i am confused about latency settings for the RAM. right now i have it set on "by SPD". right now i just run the processor non-overclocked with stock cooling. before attempting to overclock, what should my latency settings be? i want to test the stability of my RAM first before attempting to overclock. any advice would be appreciated. 🙂

Well, you should set your RAM to run at it's fastest settings, man. I'm pretty sure that the HyperX runs 2-2-2-5. You will have to run your ram slower than the proc's FSB, but that isn't a big deal with a P4. I don't use Intel, so I'm not 100% sure what settings the IC7 has for ram, but I DO know that it has settings to run it slower, like 5/4, 3/2 or something along those lines. You'll want to run the ram as fast as possible, without it becoming unstable. Just start with it at 5/4, then move to 3/2 if your processor can handle higher FSB's.
