Question about NBA2K1 and NBA2K1

It seems everytime I connect online to play some other ballers, I only get connected in both games at 28.8. I know it's not my phoneline, cause back when I had a 56k, I would connect constantly at 50666 with sometimes sub 100 pings and download speeds of 5.5-5.8KB/sec. I also tried this init string that was meant for UK users to get the modems to force a connection at 56k but with no luck. Anyone got any ideas?
