I was running SETI all night and when I got up and checked it, I used SiSoft and found the temperature to be around 37C. Is that too low? Earlier in the day while playing Q2 (Don't have Q3 yet, since I just got the computer..)it was around 47C. I'm using the HFS from 3dfxcool, the same as the Vantec one and I applied the thermal compouind that came with it. Just wondering if the temp was okay since I heard SETI uses the processor more. Thanks in advance.

Your temps sound OK; about how long were you playing Quake? If it was about 45 minutes or better you high-end temp sounds all right as well.

Your seti temp sounds a little low, but not outrageously so. its very cpu intensive, but doesnt hit much else in the system. your gfx and net/modem cards, and drives, were probably not spewing a lot of heat into your case (as would happen playing games), and allowed the CPU to suck cooler air....plus the presumably cooler nighttime air.

Also, i remember reading somewhere that the seti client was not optimized for something in the AMD processor architecture (optimized for intel only), and caused the processor to stall a lot of cycles...anyone else heard of this? or have i had too many cokes today? couldn't find a reference on the seti@home site.

Weird.. now it's at about an average of 45C.. temps ranging from 39C to 55C. What is the highest temp that the 1GHz should be? I'm still awaiting my case fans from 2cooltek so when I get those and install them, it should help hopefully.

Well? the Tbird should handle temperatures up to 80-90C. Although at that temp I can?t imagine that your components would last too long. My 1Ghz Tbird?s temps range from 35-49 Celsius, depending on the load, with 3 case fans.
