Okay I have the X800 pro running with the current Hardware.

Abit IC7-Max3 Motherboard
Intel 3.0 Ghz Northwood
1 gig corsair dual ddr 400 - 2 512 meg sticks cas 2
2 Maxtor 7200 rpm hard drives in Raid 0
Sony CD-ROM
Sony CD-RW

Everything else is built into the board.

Well I installed the X800 pro and didnt use any customizing or tweaks yet just ran a standard 3D Mark test at 1024x768 resolution. Got a 3D Mark of 8993 with 4XAA and 16XAF. Is this decent for the card I have now with my current setup?

The other thing thats weird is when I had my Nvidia 4600TI card in there before the pro the post and startup was fairly quick. But with the X800 Pro it seems to take 3 times longer to go through the post and get to Windows XP Pro logo. Is this just because its a more power hungry card and im using 8x now and it takes awhile to power up or something? Not sure why it takes so much longer to go through the start up sequence.

I thought maybe I didnt have enough power or something.

I got a Super micro 760a Case with a 400 watt power supply in it.

And finally the last thing I wanted to know was on the 12 volt rail on the 4600 ti using the Abit IC7Max monitoring utility the 12 volt rail was always flat line steady. Now with the X800 pro its still pretty much flat line but sometimes it dips down one tiny line. It doesnt drop down bad or anything it just looks like this .

4600 ti --------------------------- Flat Line all the way
X800 Pro ---_--------_------_-----_--_------_

Only two characters i could use was the 2 next to the 0 key . But anyway the dip isnt as dramatic as that its like one line down no further.

The specs for a power supply say 350 watts min and I have 400. So before I toss out 100 dollars on a 550 watt supply only to find out this dip might happen on that one can anyone with the abit ic7-max 3 tell me if they have any little dips on the 12 volt rail using the x800 pro?

Thanks in advance...

8990 is above average. Check Futuremark scores, they range from 8000- severely overclocked 12000.
I wouldn't worry about the rails.
Don't know about the startup

The startup is a bit slower with my 800pro vs the 5900 it replaced also. I assume that is normal. It may be possible that the ATI drivers load up a few more memory resident modules as part of the driver too (hotkey and the vpu recover). You 3DMark 03 score seems above average to me too, especially if you don't overclock your system. I get 8900 with an Athlon64 3200+.

Good luck,

Scott
