Question about my heat sink

Could i rub the bottom copper part of it with some special sand-paper or something so it has a good connection to the processor and their is no gaps.

I know this may sound silly but, they say if its scratched on the bottom you dont get as good of a connection. But what if you scratch it more so that its even?

Just wondering if its safe to do this.

People have been doing this for years. Use fine sandpaper (800 grain or finer) layed out on a piece of window glass. Rub in circular motions....

what is window glass what do you use it for

is it ok for me to do this

do you know of any sites where it show how to do this

What heatsink some come already lapped from the factory. Sometimes there's no difference in temperature after lapping. I don't think it's necessary for the few degrees lower it might give you . You need to do it on glass because that's usually a really flat surface. Bottom needs to be even without some parts being higher than others.
