Question about my Dell 2005fp picture quality

I posted this in the Video section but I'm not getting much help there so I thought I'd try here.

I'm currently using a Geforce FX5200 with my Dell 2005FPW with a DVI connection. The monitor picture quality seems to be a little grainy when I'm watching DVDs and seems to be a little blurry during normal use.

I recall my 2000FP looking much clearer and sharper. I was running a Ti4400 as that time. Since then I sold both.

Is it possible that I need a better video card? I know the FX5200 is a crappy ass card so I'm thinking that may be the cause. Would it improve the picture quality if I bought a 6600 or 6800? Or is it a possibility that my monitor has defects?

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you running at 1600x1050 or some lower, non-widescreen resolution?

Also, there have been a bunch of 2005 threads in General Hardware over the last couple of months, a search there might help.

I'm running at 1680 x 1050.

I guess my real question is whether or not video cards affect image quality on LCDs in general (aside from games).

Yeah that's native resolution. So upgrading to a higher end video card won't improve the quality? I'm thinking I may need to switch monitors then.
