Question about Microsoft Outlook

I am planning on backing up my files and reformatting to Windows 2000 Pro. I need help from someone who knows Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express pretty good. I need to know how to make sure all my e-mails in my Inbox are saved and also I need all my adress book contents backed up too. What is the best way to back up these files and where are they located. Also, since I didn't set up these outlook e-mail accounts, how do I check the settings that were used to connect to the domain mail server?

outlook uses *.pst files for everything
Just search your pc for them, they are buried in there, depending on what os, different places...
Or export from within outlook.
Easy to do.
As for Outlook express, depending on what version, *.dbx or *.mdx(I think) for mail and *.wab for address book.
Good luck

To back up e-mails and address book contacts: Go to File | Import and Export | Export to a File | Personal File Folder (*.pst)...then you can choose the folders that you want to back up. After you do that, remember what you named the *.pst file, and just search for *.pst. You should get a list of all the files found, and just back up those files somewhere.

As for the domain mail server, you can do it one of two ways. One way is to go to Control Panel | Mail...and just check the settings. You can also go to Tools | Options in Outlook. It should be somewhere in there.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
