If you put up a magnifying glass and had it project the image from a window onto a paper, how would the image change if you covered the bottom half, and if you covered the top half? Would the image show less, or would the image just become blurrier?

i would think that if you covered up the bottom portion of the lens, then the top portion of the image would be blacked out (since the image would be inverted in the first place)
cover up the top half of the lens, and the bottom half of the image would be blacked out.
I don't see how the image would simply be blurrier.. though I could be wrong

i think that the image would become blurred and slightly distorted, of course i'm probably wrong, but....hmmm....well i'm gonna go look for a magnifying glass

why don't you try it and see?

intuition tells me that nothing out of the original would be missing, the image is dimmer and distorted.

interesting..
i had a fresnel lens lying around and decided to try it.
covered half of the lens and the image got dimmer. :)
not sure about the blurriness, my hands weren't very steady, but there wasn't too much difference if any

neat stuff
