Question about Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels and Snatch

Why do they star so many of the same actors? I realize they were both directed by Guy Ritchie, but were the storylines supposed to be connected in some way? BTW, I thought LS&2SB was a much better movie. 😀

Yes, undoubtedly the first movie was the better one. One of my favorite movies 🙂 I guess the only connection was the life in the underground world from the same perspective. And the actors are really good, so why not use them again?

The stories are not connected. I think that Guy is one of those directors that likes to work with the same group of actors. BTW, I think Brad Pitt looked "out of place" in Snatch. Hard, to explain, but it looked like he didn't belong there.

I think Brad played his roll very, very well. However, he still had the look of an American. Maybe that is because I've seen him in so many other movies, but he didn't fit with the rest of the crowd. It didn't really bother me though...

Why did Guy cast Pitt and Benicio Del Torro? Was it to cash in on the American audience?

brad looked fine i think.... maybe you just have a preset role in your mind for him.

snatch was basically a dumbed down version of lock stock. still funny as hell though.

I agree, Brad does have "American" look and I think that's what did not feel right to me. That is not to say that he did a bad job, not at all; every movie I saw with Brad he appears to give 110%.

As for Benicio, I think he's one of those actors that can fit in on just about every set. Just compare him in Traffic to , say, Usual Suspects. He's an excellent actor IMO.

Directors tend to use the same actors. Bruce Willis and M. Night Shaymalan, for example. There are better examples, but I can't remember them right now.
