So the idea behind this is that everything is done over wifi so you don't need a plan?

One thing that confused me is it says unlimited texting in Canada but at the bottom it says SMS is not currently supported on Canadian phone numbers. Aren't these contradictory statements?

Does anyone know if this has caller id?

Yes, the calls and sms can be made over wi-fi if you do not have a cell plan. Line2 does not support mms yet, but they say it will be in a future update. I am not familiar with the Canadian texting issue.

No caller id unless the number is in your contact list. Phone number shown otherwise.
