Question about laptop memory

I'm looking on crucial to get ram for a Dell Latitude CPi .. and it says SODIMM, but EDO . ????
I thought a SODIMM was a SODIMM was a SODIMM .. am I wrong?
Can I go to the local mom and pop and grab some 144 pin SODIMM and count on it working?

Early DIMMs used EDO memory. I don't know about just buying a random SODIMM will work though. Somone else will have to answer that question.

You're link is broken btw.

dell laptops seem very choosy on which ram it'll play nice with. I suggest you get the crucial ram as it's guaranteed to work.

SODIMM simply means Small Outline DIMM. It comes in many flavors - 144pin EDO, 144pin PC66/100/133, 200pin DDR, etc. Just get the type Crucial says works in your laptop.
