Question about K7S5A

I have a K7S5A motherboard with a Athlon 850 CPU and i'm planing to upgrade to Athlon XP 1600+, so i'm wondering if it will work or will i have to flash bios?

I read somewhere that it supports AthlonXP processors but if not flashed it doesn't use SSE instructions. Any help is appreciated.

I didn't have to flash the BIOS on the 2 1600+ and k7s5a boxes I built. Both recognized the chips out of the box. It's not hard to flash the BIOS though. Once you do it a few times, it'll become old hat.

If the board has the XP stickers around the socket then it will work with AXPs out of the box. It's not flashing the BIOS that enables support for SSE, i think you will need to reinstall Windows for it to pick up SSE.

The latest BIOS gives support for the 2000+, 2100+, 2200+ and 2300+ (i think)
