Question about job interview

When looking for a job and you are interviewed, will companies hire you if you have no prior job experience (part time) and the only thing you have is a degree?

Depends on what they're looking for.

This day and age, experience is everything. Unless they really need you I don't see you getting hired with zero experience. I'd go work for a low paying position somewhere and try to build up experience.

So it is crucial that I work while attending college? Whether it's McDonald's or whatever?

Nah, McD's won't make any difference. Get an internship, paid or unpaid, in the area you're interested in. Target your work- do whatever you can to get some experience to toss on your resume that concerns your job area.

Umm, no. McDonald's doesn't constitute experience unless you're getting a degree in burger flipping or facilitating heart attacks for patrons. You need experience that is relevant to your degree.

It totally depends on the field....a rare degree esp. from a top school = instant job + bonus + car + expenses, etc....

I had an almost complete (-2 core classes for the degree but + 30 optional core classes I took as extras totally 160 hours of progress, not changing degrees mid-stream) biology/zoology/chemistry/microbiology degree and was making close to 40k about 10 years ago now (doing banking)...i decided to go back to school in 1999 to get an actual full degree....I did it in Comp Sci, but now the first questions everyone asks is: Are you A+? MSCE? CNA? etc...... They also sometimes ask for unrealistic things like 10+ years in Windows XP, 5 years+ in Office 2000, etc.

Job experience is a big plus, everyone with an AOL Homepage claims to be a web designer now...so when you talk about your own website people are thinking scrolling and flashing text and a gazillion bmp's...🙂

no, get an internship related to your major! no one will give a fvck about you if you worked at starbucks or macdonalds.

if you have a degree in Comp Sci and there asking you if you have an A+ you are in the wrong building man. Tech support is for people without comp sci degrees.
