Question about Ipod's plug and play functionality

hey all i've been a long time reader but this is my first post on these fourms. My question is simple i've been in the market for a ipod/ipod mini and i've been wondering can i just use it as a portable hard drive much like a usb thumb drive, does windows see a ipod plugged in as a 20 gb or 5 gb drive ? also does the ipod come with a cradle or cable to connect to a computer? thanks!
 
Yes. Any computer will detect it as removable storage and you can drag and drop files as you please. Also the 20gb iPods do not come with a cradle or a case, but they do ship with a usb and a firewire cable both.
