Question about iPod

I was just wondering what year was the iPod intorduced. And if possible, does anybody know where I can find information on how many iPods have been sold since its introduction. Thanks.

Roughly 3.7 Million sold as of the end of last quarter. Their stock is up nearly 70% since September...I'm kicking myself for not buying some.
