Question about installing video card

About two weeks ago I had to send away my new GeForce 4 Ti4400 to the manufacturer because it was defective. I am supposed to get a new card tomorrow, so I wan't to make sure I don't screw up the installation. The first time I tried my new Ti4400, it was the first card in the computer I just built, but it wouldn't work. I used my old 16mb video card while I was waiting for my card to come back. I know installing a video card is very simple- I easily got my old video card to work and I am careful about static electircity. But since this card is going to be used after I already installed my old card, will I have to remove any traces of the old card or can I just put the new card in the AGP slot and expect it to work? If I do have to remove traces of the old card, how do I do it(in Windows XP)?

I'm not really sure what your talking about, but, windows xp sets up most hardware devices automaticly.

The way I'd do it would be as follows

Go into the control panel....Click system....Click the hardware tab....Click Device Manager....Find your video card....Double click on it....Click the driver tab....Click uninstall....When it tells you that you have to reboot to finish the process just do a shut down instead....Switch the cards and install the software....Should work fine.

If you installed any utilities for the card your using now you'd want to remove them first of course.

If you already have the drivers for the other vid card, you would only need to switch the vid cards on the mobo and that should do it. Your comp should automatically recognize the vid card when you boot up.
