Question about inserting emoticon code into messages...

When you go to add an emoticon using the pull down menu (when making a post), the code is automatically added to the very end of the message.

Are there any plans to change this so they can be inserted where the insert key is flashing? I don't know all the codes so it's a lot quicker to just select something form the pull down menu.

It seems  to work :clock: for me! Though I do not use the "WYSIWYG" editor.

I think it's a limitation of the browsers and the Javascript. Perhaps the WYSIWYG editor can do this, but it has other problems (not the least of which is incompatibility with Mozilla), so I don't use it.

Edit: I "just live with it" by memorizing the codes to the emoticons that I use regularly... ;) :) :| :( :frown: :disgust: :p  :wine:  :D ;)

Zuni has said this in the past.
Yup, with the having to select the drop down box, that takes the focus away from the text box, so it is a limitation of the browser and javascript. However if implemented differently (use something besides a drop down box) it can be done.

However, with the mass number of emiticons, this may not be practical.

However, if I were to do it, I would stick all the emoticon images down in the bottom right corner where it is just blank space anyways and have a user click the said image they want in the message. Easier for the user definately. But then again, all I can do is make suggestions.
