I can think of many better ways to die than hanging. How about taking some major sedatives, stand over a bathtub filled with water and lye, and fall in once you have passed out.
How about waking up while in said tub? Extreme pain has the ability to wake people up from very strong sedation, especially as you will fall in when you are going to sleep and not passed out yet.
Or how about aiming a gun directly at your heart, I doubt it will hurt a bit. Most gun victims rarely feel pain until a few seconds (or minutes) after being shot, and by then you'll be dead.
It will most definently hurt as hell, and it's easy to twitch as you pull the trigger, easy to miss, if you're gonna use a gun, make it a .357 or bigger, preferably a shotgun, put it in your mouth tilted slightly upwards and pull the trigger. There is a true story about a man who tried to kill himself with a .22, he shot himself five times in the head before he hung himself.
Hanging is messy, and if done incorrectly could leave you paralyzed (and alive!!). And if you're paralyzed how do you plan on killing yourself?
No, hanging is one of the most effective ways, only shotgun in mouth has a lower survival rate, a proper drop (14 feet or more) and a strong rope will most certainly result in immidiate death. Other methods, like gunshots to the head or drugs are far more likely to cause brain damage or paralyzation.
Falling off a building or tall bridge (really really tall, wouldn't want to risk surviving) might be more desirable too. If you fall on you're head, you'll either smash your head open or snap your neck instantly. So it's doubtful you'll ever feel the death. Plus as an added bonus, it might be fun to fly through the air like that (hey skydiving is supposed to be fun).
And you called hanging messy?
😕
People have survived falls from extreme heights, it usually leaves them with extreme pain though, sometimes for the rest of their lives.
All i can say is research the methods, do a google on methods and suicide and you will find more than you want to read, there is also a book on the subject, can't remember what it's called atm though.
