Question about GTX 970 non reference models

Hi guys,

So I'm currently looking at purchasing either the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 gaming or the ASUS Strix GTX 970. Here are the links below to each:

The ASUS is $30 cheaper and also allegedly quieter, but the Gigabyte has that triple slot cooling and I've had a Windforce video card before and it was amazing.

My question though, comes down to the power delivery. Interestingly, the Gigabyte takes a 6 + 8 pin configuration while the ASUS only takes a 8 pin. In terms of power delivery, especially if I'd like to overclock later, will this affect the ASUS in any way? Also, will the Gigabyte draw significantly more power?

970 roundup of three cards. Asus is included, Gigabyte isn't. Will give you an idea of how much variance (not much) there is between brands for overclocking potential and power usage.

If I get a GTX 970 it would be the Gigabyte.

At the top of the card you can see the two power headers. The reference designs all have two 6-pin headers, this one offers one 6 and one 8 pin header. So that should allow you to get a little more juice into the card for a better tweaking experience.

At M2/M3 (Measure Points) the VRM area can be spotted. It runs at roughly 60~65 Degrees C on that spot and the rest of the measurement points, these are very good temperatures

Your power supply is more than good enough and I have the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 gaming and it is a great choice as I am sure the others are apart from the EVGA which I hear is a bit louder. The Gigabyte G1 which has been in my systems since Saturday and has been quiet (can hardly hear it even when pushed) and is overclocked out of the box quiet aggressively. I think at the moment it just comes down to a personal choice on looks as pretty much all the GTX 970's overclock extremely well. I just liked the cooler and the backplate....went with my current setup. Anybody upgrading from 7950's/7970's is going to be more than happy. Still can't get over the price and how quiet it is.
