Question about Godaddy/Namecheap

I've had my personal domain with Godaddy since 2003, but I'm thinking about switching to Namecheap.

1. The whois on my domain says it was created in 2003. If I transfer this domain to another registrar, will this whois information be retained? Or will it say the domain was created in 2007 (on the day I transfered over to the new registrar)?

2. Which registrar has cheaper private registration? From what I can tell, namecheap has it free for the first year and $2.99/year after that, while Godaddy charges $8.99/year. But after clicking a hundred links on the nightmare that is Godaddy.com, I'm not sure.

Thanks! :) :cookie:

Not sure on #1 but #2 I'm pretty sure NC is better. I use NC for all my domains and I def. recommend them

1) Yes it should be retained, although the update date will be 11/2007.
2) NameCheap.com is cheaper.
