Hendrick's and good tonic with some shaved cucumber and dried juniper berries. The Botanist is also good.

I had Botanist for the first time a couple weeks ago, loved it. My new favorite.

Distilling is quickly joining brewing in becoming a trend in locally sourced goods. I know there are a lot of new micro-distilleries popping up, though I haven't tried many of them yet.

We have several in town now to join the 15 or so local brewers. And just like many of the brewers, most were started by hobbyists who should have stayed hobbyists. Genuinely awful stuff. Like some of the brewers, I expect they'll get better if they survive, but I won't be patronizing them. One and done. "Have fun. Don't quit your day job at Hewlett Packard."

Yeah there's going to be a shakeout coming soon. Here in MN we have over 100 breweries compared to 5 registered breweries a decade ago. I've been to quite a few of them, and if I had to guess half of them will closed within 5 years. There are some truly outstanding, some truly awful, and a lot of average ones. Still, there will be some good ones to come out of the boom.
