Do they make anything that will let me get this on my wireless network? I dont believe its usb2.0 so that rules out usb adapters.

Thanks for any help

You'll need an airport card. USB2 adapters should work in USB1 ports, so you could pick up a ralink based one.

What revision Imac do you have?

See this link and let us know which one.

Some of the earlier ones are *not* airport capable.....

I'm assuming that wired is not an option? Cat5e cable is so cheap nowadays...... 🙂

Also, USB 1.1 speeds are not that bad for just simple stuff browsing and email. I'm thinking you're not going to be doing much Quake or anything of the sort on that puppy, right?

its 400mhz.
slot load cd-rom
785megs of ram

i know its from the year 2000 from a sticker on it. i cant look at anything else right now because im at work. if i can read that chart correctly, being from 2000 and 400mhz it should be able to take the airport card correct?

its red (ruby i guess) also

edit: no quaking on this thing just internet, mail and music. i live in an apartment so i cant run cat5.

Yep, it sounds like you're good to go.

You need to open 'er up and see if it has the slot already.

That thing you're looking at on Ebay is just the adapter - no Airport card is included....

This link should get you started in taking a peek.... 🙂

thanks for all the help.

i cant imagin a pc as old as this thing being as fast or useful as it is. i love osx. instead of upgrading my pc in the future im thinking about a powerbook. 😉

heh...being the owner of 2 Imac's myself I...grudgingly have to agree - Unix (OSX) has really revolutionized the Mac World.

But, the Mac world is still full of....hmmmmmm.....shall we say.......<snip> individuals who think that paying $2000-3000 for a mid-priced computer is reasonable...and that's what keeps me from really investing....

Also, I can find software to do just about everything in the PC world...but not quite in the Mac OS X world...but it's gaining.... 😉

🙂

BTW, if you need help with setting up sharing with a PC network and vice versa,

This link and this link may help....

i had them networked by a cable when i first got it. i could see the mac from the pc but i didnt have a clue as to where to go to see the pc from the mac. ill read thru those links. thanks. 🙂
