When I purchased an 08 Charger for my wife in November of last year, we opted for the GAP coverage, since we were purchasing her a new vehicle because her other one was totaled. We figured it a worthwhile cost.

I was just perusing over at penfed, and noticed they charge $299 for GAP coverage. We paid $595!!! Did I get fucked over on it? I never once considered that GAP would be something I could "haggle" over, so when offered for $595, we decided to take it. Would I have been able to get that price lower?

gap isn't an acronym. it's the gap between what you owe and what the car is worth.

and yes, it's something to haggle over or just buy elsewhere. so the finance salesman at your dealer just got themselves a nice bonus.

There is absolutely nothing about purchasing a vehicle from a dealership that cannot be haggled over, nothing at all.

I think I could think of something but don't want to get the thread locked.
