Question about G9 Logitech mouse

I can't stand mice that continue to track when you've lifted the mouse into the air. I often lift the mouse and move it elsewhere on the mousepad, its sorta like a habit and its how i mouse. My diamondback doesnt track once its slightly off the ground, and I love that. However, the mouse feet are dying, and I am really excited by the look of the G9. So I wonder...

Does the G9 track after you've lifted it slightly off the ground? Do you think this would be a hassle for someone like me?

lift off distance can vary quite a bit depending upon the surface you are using, but I don't even have an average for you without google searching myself so I won't answer :p

however, you could always get replacement feet...

I've looked into replacement feet, and literally the only thing I can buy and have shipped to Canada is the razer pack with the copperhead faceplate, weights, etc, and mousefeet. it cost 16 cdn. That's just too much for me to justify, when even the buttons on my diamondback are getting worn. I use my pc alot.

I dunno how to measure lift off distance either but its a subjective thing to me. I used a gigabyte mouse I got for free with my UD3R motherboard, and its liftoff distance was ridiculously unusable for me.

I have one coming in the mail. If you haven't discovered the answer by then, I will let you know what I find.

It does still track if you lift it slightly, so you may see some mouse jump if you're a lifter. However, you may see less need to lift and reset with the G9's much higher DPI. If you lift to turn quickly then that's a different story. I used to lift and reset a lot also, but not so much with the G9.

I'm using one right now. It does move a bit when I lift it (about 1/8 - 1/4 way across my 1920x1200 screen if I lift it very quickly / erratically), but I have the DPI set all the way to 3200 and the pointer speed about half way (I use only a corner of my SteelSeries SP and it takes about an inch of mouse movement to go from one side of the screen to the other). If I keep the mouse more than a centimeter off the pad it doesn't track.

Keep in mind, also, that the G9 is very small compared to other gaming mice, including the G5, G7, and especially all of Razer's mice. You might want to Google a size comparison if you're used to large mice.

1cm sounds like a lot larger distance than my diamondback.. I can lift it slightly off the ground and have it track but much less than 1 cm and it wont track as I reposition the mouse. Turning up the dpi wont really matter, I'm too used to lifting the mouse to get it in my ideal position and such, I don't even think about it.

I'd love to get an update about this, as the g9's are on sale now at Ncix and I need to know if the mouse is usable before I drop $80 on it.

Thus far, my extensive googling and searching through old forums has led me to believe tat the g9's liftoff is not good compared to my diamondback or the copperhead. Confirm/Deny?

I bought the g9 today with the intention of bringing it back and paying 15% restocking if the liftoff was unacceptable (which I expected it to be, being laser). Fortunately its actually quite good, very slightly more than my diamondback which was quite minimal. I haven't tested on multiple surfaces, but on the razer exactmat the lift off is probably 3-4 mm, subjectively its very usable for myself, who spends as much time with the mouse in the air as on the ground. Keep in mind the exactmat and other hard surfaces tend to give the least lift off distance.

Thank you to all the g9 users out there who were able to take time from their busy schedules to post some subjective or objective comments to help me out before I bought this product. Yep, that'd good old fashioned sarcasm folks, and it never gets old.

I've always thought that a mouse that can see work a few cm off the pad as a good mouse, I guess I was wrong. :p

the problem is that if the mouse is still tracking when you lift it off and reposition it to continue a motion, when you're bringing the mouse back to make another swipe, if it is still tracking then that would basically be the equivalent of swiping it back and then forth (and end up in the same spot) instead of two backs (and be twice as far)...

I would have loved to have helped you Tidusz, but my mouse still hasn't arrived yet. Ewiz takes their sweet time shipping apparently.
