background information here

I was walking to work this morning and noticed that one of the freshly rehabilitated homes that just got a brand new stucco facing out front in the pattern of this, now has a giant penis drawn into it and the words "john is a lovely human" scrawled in. The whole thing is about 6 feet tall and about 3 feet wide :(

Question: Is this pattern done to make a top coat of stucco stick better or did they just ruin the final she-bang?

If they did ruin it, they just cost that contractor thousands and thousands of dollars :(

Thats the scratch coat, and your exactly right, the patteren is so the next coat will bound better.

Thank god. That was so depressing when I saw that. My next door neighbors just had new stucco put on and I think I'd beat anyone vandalizing it to within an inch of their lives.

It's my neighborhood and if this was the final coating, the repair costs could go into the 5 digits, causing god knows what kind of financial problems for the flipper. Anything that deters investment towards property rehabilitation in my neighborhood will hurt my property values. We're trying to bring this neighborhood back.

5 digits to stucco over a 6 foot penis? I need to get into the stucco industry... An hour or two of work and I have enough to buy a new car.

It's the whole front of the house. I'd have a hard time imagining being able to strip the whole first and part of the second floor without stripping the rest of it, and doing it all over from scratch.

Without pix, (thank you for that!) it's hard to be certain, but even if it was the finish coat, it sould only take a stucco guy a couple of hours to fix it. I don't know where you get the "5 figures" to repair, unless 2 of those are on the right side of the decimal point...Shouldn't run more than a couple hundred...It's stucco (concrete), not gold...(although it may seem like it if you're having a house re-stucco'd)
