So, you know when that dude kicks the other guy into that huge creepy hole?

What the hell is that? I mean, what's with that hole? Like, why is it there? Did every village in ancient greece have a huge freakin' hole for people to be kicked into? And why would anyone back themselves up next to it?

I'm confused. But I really don't like that hole. It's creepy.

Edit: Since some people have been living under a rock, here's the trailer

Edit number 2: This is what I'm talking about

I don't know.. I translated a couple of texts concerning Xerxes and his crazy war, but I've never heard anything about a hole.. Is the movie out, already, then?

It's in the trailer. Which I won't repost since there are a bazillionty links for it, most of which are to Apple.com. It looks cool. Except for that huge freakin' hole. That scares me. I mean, it's HUGE.

What it COULD be (I haven't see the trailer and YHPM) is a reference to the Charybdis, a giant whirlpool which actually was the earth. Some other guy (not Homer) wrote that the Earth was a great beast and that Charybdis was one of it's mouths (mouthes?). Greek literature is complicated :p.

I don't know if that's it...you can't really see any water in there.

It's weird. I'd be scared to go anywhere near it.

It's Sparta. Somehow I would expect them to build a bottomless pit into which they toss their enemies at every port of call.

Why don't we Americans build a bottomless pit? I mean, how exactly does one do that?

I want a bottomless pit. [insert vagina joke here]

What's with all the yelling? Can they talk normally?

AINT YOU SEEN MY MOVIES?!! THA'S HOW I ALWAYS TALK!!

he should scare Japanese people like that one screaming guy does.
He can walk up to people and instead of yelling, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH", he can just go...."THIS IS SPARTA!!!"
You can have scared and confused people on video.

It's a water hole where people draw water from. The Persian dude was thirsty.

Check OP for pics.

I just checked the pic...is that a bucket and some rope? If that's really a huge well, that's crazy.

Also, what's with that little kid in the trailer with that mean mug on his face.

He's looks so arrogant and cocky...

I just want to send him to time-out.

You make a good point. This is specifically why the well has a brick guard...to prevent people from being kicked into it and dying.

I posted this in the other 300 thread, also. The bullsh!t thing about 300 is that there were around 1,000 Thespian and Theban Greek warriors at the last stand with the 300 Spartans.

There's no way that rope makes it to the bottom of that well, otherwise the Persian would be swimming ~ 10' below the top. ;)

its certainly not a well, look at the gutter, they wouldn't have storm water off the street diverted into a well.

What, you expected him to just kick the guy onto the ground? Giant holes are so the rage right now.

Kid with mean mug
Constant yelling like the Costanzas.
Well or Hole of mystery.

These are questions demanding answers.

with a bucket and rope next to it :D

its a giant toilet. see people use to just squat next to the hole but a good breeze would knock people into it. now the have a bucket so you don't have to stand next to the edge. the gutter on the side is actually a urinal.
