Question about Foxit Reader

So I made a thread a week ago or so here and got recommendations for Foxit reader. Seems like something I should've had a while ago. Fast, small, and simple. Foxit Reader seems to do everything I want. If I need PDF editing or other capabilities like Acrobat Pro, I have the option to buy the Pro version of Foxit reader.

But when I click a PDF link from Firefox, I was wondering if it could load instantly, and allow you to start viewing the PDF from what it has downloaded in the first couple of seconds. I dont really need it inside of the FF window, which it doesnt right now and I'm not sure if it even supports that.

Like for the Nvidia Foreware PDF.. it's almost a 1MB PDF. Rather than wait for my crap connection to download it completely, can it work as Reader does? Or is this possibly a reason why Adobe Reader would crap out so much (trying to scroll past what my slow connection has downloaded so far)?
 
I don't use pdf readers too much. I always cringe when something comes in pdf form. It just seems tedious to do simple things. I can't answer your first question, but I've always had trouble viewing pdfs as they downloaded. It always seemed to make the reader spaz out and act unpredictably. I have a fairly fast cable connection now, so while using Foxit I have the document before I start reading.
 
somtiemes it does and sometimes it doesn't for me. it seems to depend on the site for some reason, or maybe i just haven't noticed the size of the pdf.
 
I use Foxit and the download completes before you can view it. I actually prefer this method.
 
On the subject of pdfs. Why is that format used? I hate them. It feels cumbersome to read through a pdf doc. Are they used for small compression? Or the free reader? I'd really rather see some kind of open office doc or something that works more like MS Word.

Adobe PDF files look exactly like original documents and preserve source file information.
