Question about Firewire and cord length.

I've been told previously here that the max on a Firewire cord is around 14' to 15'. Assuming I was told the correct info, is there some kind of repeater that will allow me to run a longer cord?

Thanks for any info.

Yes pretty much any firewire device can be used as a "repeater" or part of a chain of a pretty much unlimted lenght till you reach if I recall 144 devices, altho they would all share the same 400mbs bandwith. for example my external HDD enclosue has a port on the back that I can plug other firewire devices into and my enclosure is hooked up to my PC.
