Question about facial care, namely blackheads...

Hey all,

I have a pretty oily face but as long as I keep off of milk and chocolate I can keep my acne under control. There is only one bit that bothers me however, blackheads on my nose. No matter what I try I can't seem to get rid of the little buggers.

So far I typically rinse twice-thrice a day with a Cetaphil cleanser, do a Biore "facemask" treatment twice a week and use a Benzoyl-Peroxide topical product at night.

I'm considering going to see a dermatologist but I'm leery that they will just prescribe some sort of antibiotic with all sorts of side effects.

Have any of you experienced this issue and what have you done to resolve it?

Thanks for your time.

duct tape
or some of that strong packaging tape
(it would be funny to have a duct tape nose but realistically it would l likely leave glue residue on your face)

Some people just have large pores on their nose.
I would ask a dermatologist, but he/she shouldn't prescribe antibiotics unless you are having severe acne, like cystic acne.

Ugh, I got the same problem. I've tried the Biore blackhead strips, they rock in that they do get LOTS of blackheads out. However, since there are so many, there is virtually no visible change in appearance. Masking tape kinda works, but you gotta clean the oil off first and leave it on for 10 minutes; even then, you'll only get a few out. Duct tape: if you want a stretched nose, okay😉.

Biore first, then grab a towel and dry rub the area. that would get a lot of crap out after the biore unplug the pore.

you could also consider laser therapy.

Go down to the drugstore and get one of these: blackhead remover. Then just push down around each blackhead with the small loop. Yes, it's a bit tedious if you have a lot, but no topical product will ever remove them as well as this.

a dermatologist wouldn't prescribe anti-biotics cause they would do nothing to help against blackheads. i go to a dermatologist everynow and then because my skin is also oily. anyway, she explained to me that blackheads are actually oxidized fats. although bacteria can inhibit those areas, they aren't the cause. you need to pop them carefully with chemicals. use a product designed for that and that should help.

Th best way to get rid of them is to use hot water (the hotter the better) to wet the area where they are. That way the pore opens up a lot and it is much easier to pop them.
