Question about EXIF data

GoingUp

Lifer
Look at the following data below.

File size: 404238 bytes
File date: 2006:09:04 14:58:51
Camera make: OLYMPUS OPTICAL CO.,LTD
Camera model: C2040Z
Date/Time: 0000:00:00 00:00:00
Resolution: 900 x 675
Flash used: No
Focal length: 8.6mm
Exposure time: 0.013 s (1/80)
Aperture: f/1.8
ISO equiv.: 100
Metering Mode: matrix
Exposure: program (auto)

Is the file date, the date and time it was taken with the camera? Or the date and time it was saved on the computer?

The time and date that the image was copied from the camera's cache to the flash media it was ultimately saved on.

In other words, the time and date the shutter button was pressed to take the image.

🙂

What about the date/time being all 0s?

Most likely it means the camera's firmware didn't support that particular EXIF parameter. *shrug* File date should be the same thing.

The date and time weren't entered into the camera's settings? They don't communicate with the atomic clock to get that info automatically, AFAIK...
