Question about EPA Gas-mileage specs for hybrid vehicles

Eh, not really. Drive both variants well equipped and get back to us.

The point is…both vehicle brands are made by Toyota…and generally have similar build quality. Sure, the Lexus, being the luxury brand might be “nicer,” but the underlying quality is very similar.

Lexus is made by toyota, their luxury brand. They've historically put out stellar vehicles that achieve their objectives. The NX is basically a RAV4 with more luxury amenities, more noise b reduction, creature comforts, better handing etc.

Sometimes you want to check though across models. When my parents bought their Avalon years ago, they considered a Lexus instead. However, the high trim Toyota model was more feature rich than the Lexus, thus, the Lexus would have required a substantial price increase to be equivalent.

yes that is exactly what I am saying. Seat comfort is subjective and it all boils down to my original post:
Be comfortable.
At < 10,000 miles a year, the economy does not matter.
30 MPG @$4 a gallon = $1332
50 MPG @4 a gallon = $800
$532 a year is not going to break you.

Renting whatever you might buy is a great idea.
