Question about employment

Quick question:

My employer for the job I am starting on May 8th keeps emailing me saying he is very anxious for me to begin. My college has told me I am two credits short for graduation (which is why I haven't started working at the job yet). However, I am appealing the credits and have about a 75% chance of winning the appeal. HOWEVER, if they still require me to take the class, they have agreed to let me take the class near where I am moving, at a local college about 10 minutes from my job, over the Summer. The class would be four nights a week, for two weeks... hardly anything to worry about, and it wouldn't interfere with the job ....

Now my question is: Should I tell my employer the situation? I wouldn't want this mundane detail to risk me losing the job opportunity. And if I should tell him, should I wait to see if its a problem first (as in, wait to see if I lose the appeal) before I mention it?

Thanks!

-Matt

PS: Second question removed because I got an answer 😉

If the (potential) summer school won't even interfere with the job, there's no need to tell them.

As for an estimator, just do a quick 1040EZ...that will get you in the ballpark.

Nope, class is at night time, 7 pm.... and work ends at 5 pm, so even if I have to stay an hour late or so, I'd still be fine.

As far as the job, my only concern was that maybe it is a requirement that I have my degree and the job is contingent on that. It doesn't say so in my offer letter, and in fact my boss has emailed me numerous times to say that he wishes I could have started earlier... so I can't see them caring if I need to go to a class for two weeks at night to actually get the piece of paper.

Did they say the job was contingent on the degree? What makes you think it might be? You gotta give us more details...

I'm still guessing it won't be necessary to tell them.

No, I don't think so. They said "When can you start?" I said "I graduate May 7th". They said "OK, start May 8th."

Definately rectal exam.

Definately.

My employer: We'd like you to start in mid-November.
Me: No. I need to walk around Cambodia for a month and stuff. I'll start in January.
My employer: You can't start earlier? We really need you.
Me: No. I'll be back in January.

I started on January 12.

Just tell your damn boss, sounds like he wants to suck your dick as it is, I'm sure it won't hurt.
