I am applying for an internship and they ask for a resume and cover letter. Should the attached resume and cover letter be on the same doc? Or in separate? Also, what should i put in the subject box? Should i just say "Hello, my name is _____, attached is my resume and cover letter"? is that sufficient enough? Or should i saw more?

Ok ty... and when naming the document, is there a specific format i should be following? i.e. "Last name. first name. resume and cover letter"

You are attaching too much importance to details that are irrelevant. Make sure that it is well written and well presented. The name you assign to the document will not influence anything.

Well, the only reason im asking these questions (which seems trivial) is because my resume is finally ready to be submitted after crucial editing. I just want to be as thorough as possible.

Really? Did not know that. (sorry this is my first time submitting a resume and cover letter online)..... reason i asked is because they said "If you are interested in the position, please send your resume and cover letter to ___"... So i figured i had to attach the cover letter in addition to the resume

Well, it's what I do. It would be kind of redundant to basically have multiple greetings/introductions. I guess it would be easy to print/file for the employer, though.

i always send pdf files of both, and copy past the cover letter into the e-mail. so its easy to print/keep on file. I usually send a references page if i think they will request it. for the file name i just do herm0016resume.pdf and herm0016cover.pdf so that they stay together if they keep the files and so that it is easy to know who's they are.
