Question about drive performance

I currently have a 80gb drive in my main computer right now. I'm considering to get a 1TB drive soon. My question is, should I keep my 80 gig drive as the windows drive and use the 1TB drive as storage or should I partition the 1TB drive ( 100gb/900gb, 100gb for OS) ? Would I lose performance if I partitioned and used it in that configuration ?

Partitioning the 1TB drive will cause a bit of a performance hit because it'll cause more seeking whenever data in the other partition needs accessed. I have no idea how the performance will be compared to the 80G drive though, it might end up being a net win.

Partioning a large HD will result in better performance, for these reasons.

You can't make that kind of blanket statement, drive performance is heavily dependent on usage patterns.
