Question about downloading things

I sometimes download things off the internet (collective gasp!) and occasionally cancel the download halfway through. I've always wondered, what happens to the half that I downloaded? I can never find it. (Windows by the way) Anyone know?

is this is IE? if so they the files are initially in your temporary internet files directory and will be deleted eventually automatically.

<< Yup, IE, but there seems to be next to nothing in my Temp. Internet Files. Hmmm.... >>

Many times it disappears soon after the download is canceled or failed. Rarely do I have IE resume a download from a file in the temporary internet files folder. The file should be there while you are downloading though. This is why when the download is done you see the box that pops up that says the file cxkckvkldfjkdsalkfldsfkjdaf39490328049 is being moved into the file yourdownloadedfile.filetype
