I recently bought 5 years of a domain at yahoo.com. Turns out the service sucks and I want to transfer to Go Daddy or NameCheap. Does this cost money? Do I get to keep my 5 years?

I realy dont understand the process.
 
It's free. No, you don't get to keep the 5 years. It's going to cost you the amount to register it with Godaddy. You're transferring nameservers.
