How many pictures does a 64mb card usually hold... approximately. When you're dealing with a 2.0 or 3.2 megapixel camera. I'm talking normal 4x6 prints.
I've got a 2.0MP Canon A60 and a 64MB CF card. At maximum resolution, the camera takes 1600 x 1200-pixel photos, with 1024 x 768 and 640 x 480 as other options. It can use one of three "detail" settings: Superfine, Fine, and Normal.
On an empty 64MB card, the camera estimates it can take
61 superfine 1600x1200
110 fine 1600x1200
218 normal 1600x1200
At 1024 x 768, it estimates 107/190/351.
At 640 x 480, it estimates 218/351/679.
It can also shoot an estimated 488 seconds of 160 x 120 video or an estimated 184 seconds of 320 x 240 video.
Hope that helps 🙂 I do run it out of memory sometimes, particularly since I may simultaneously have some Word and PowerPoint documents stored on the CF card too (plus I almost always use Superfine 1600x1200).
My Kodak DX3500 2MP camera (which only has 1800x1200 and 900x600 modes, and has no superfine / fine / medium / low adjustments for JPEG compression levels) can get about 100 1800x1200 pics on a 64MB CF card, and close to 400 900x600 pics on the same card.
