What rails do p4's draw power from... 3.3? 5? 12? or a combination of all 3 or just 2?

i want to say it's 3.3 and 5 but i could be COMPLETELY wrong...

and what about the amd chips? i know those are 3.3 and 5

depends on the board i guess... if it has the additional 12v 4 pin connector i would bet the 12v rail

"[T]he Pentium III and all CPUs before it ran on the +5V rail. ... Modern CPUs such as the Athlon and Pentium 4 run on the +12V rail." Link.

I believe PIV draw from 12V. For AMD, it varies with MB. For most newer MB like Abit NF7-S, it draws from 12 V rails. But my older Epox EDRA+ uses 5 V rails. Epox changed to 12 V with their followup EDRA3+.

For heavy overclockers with lot of peripherals, you really need strong consistent 12V rails from your powersupply. My Antec 430 supplies about 20 A to 12V and many say that's about the base you want to shoot for if you have lot of power hungry equip.
