Question about CPU Voltage

hey guys, the cpu voltage in the cpu bios reads that it is ~1.5. However, cpuz reads that the processor voltage is 1.456V. I am currently OC to 2.8ghz, so if cpuz is right, should i try to raise the voltage and go higher?

Voltage doesn't limit overclocks, heat limits overclocks. Forget the numbers, read the temps. Volts are just for keeping score!

No one really knows for sure, but with a 10% or less voltage increase like yours, most would agree the decrease in chip life would be minimal.

LOL voltage does decrease chip life and does so exponetially(each additional ..05 volts is much worse than the last)

Remmeber that the sensors on your motherboard are likely off as they are on mosts but the cpuz reading is the most reliable.

Honestly you get diminshing returns very quickly after 1.45 volts so I would say its not worth it. What are you temps at?

Edit just noticed your using a single core processor. Why not bump the bios setting up to 1.525 and see how high it will go.

bios and cpu z are both off...

bios is probably better

most reliable is a digital/analog voltmeter

On my dfi sli dr...bios setting of 1.43v(1.375 * 104%), bios reads 1.41, cpuz reads 1.392....idle is 1.43v...at load vcore is 1.45V!!!

increased voltage and heat will decrease a cpu's life.. nobody really knows how much..there is a no real safe increase it is all speculation
