I've been reading CPU magazine since 2002 so I'm not sure why or how I am just now noticing this, but there use to be multiple articles wrote by different figures in the industry (Anand for one) in each CPU magazine. The monthly issues have been seeming very bland lately and I just realized why - they no longer have any of these articles.
Hell, the latest issue doesn't even have the word from editor/ceo/(forgot who) at the beginning of the magazine. It has ALWAYS been there before now.

For me, they have made this magazine extremely unpersonal now and while I did not notice what was causing it, it has made the magazine very boring. I always loved reading the articles, the industry insider, anands articles, and that guy with glasses that always would have a live cam in his house (forgot his name, Chris something), and the guy with the cigar in the mouth.

Where did these articles go? Now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen them for months. I'll have to go through my recent issues to make sure. After a decade of supporting this magazine, I may have to move to something else if these articles don't return. This is what made CPU magazine CPU magazine and they took it away :(

I've never even heard of that magazine before. :hmm:

I think magazines are going to follow newspapers and phone books before too long anyways.

I let my sub run out a while ago after the big names had stopped inputting their articles. They were great to read, but there's only so many times you can rehash the same hardware discussions.
I just got back into PC hardware after 3 years away from it, so I wouldn't mind re-upping, but, shit, these days we don't even have a local bookstore where I can go and buy one on impulse.

Ya, I'm a bit bitter about the local Borders closing, if only for the fact that they carried a lot of oddball periodicals or mags that no one else carried.

Local library has this magazine. I noticed that the articles "Anand's Corner" & others disappeared like a year or so ago. It has now turned more like a review site with lots of ads.

My MaximumPC subscription has expired this month not sure if I'll be renewing. :\

Idk about you but I normally don't look very far back in pages, I assume most others also don't unless looking for something specific. Anandtech Off topic pushes pretty quick if you haven't noticed.

I ran out awhile back so I looked around to see if I could find a free subscription, found some site that seemed legit enough, got sent a subscription form without any place to put payment. It was different than regular one, nicer paper as well. Got a year for free, a few months later I got another form/envelope so I'm saving it for when my sub ends. Seems too good to be true, but seems legit as far as I can tell.

So I guess all the guest writers just left? Now it's just ads and reviews. I swear they take up 10 pages on 'the best memory picks' every couple months.

I stopped reading CPU years ago when I realized Anand was the best writer and he puts all his stuff here.

Anand's articles in CPU magazine are what led me here so many years ago.

Realized there was little to no reason to continue with the magazine after landing here.

I picked up two of those 3TB external drives for $99 each from my local MicroCenter yesterday and they had CPU magazine on a table at the entrance and exit of the store for free.

Guess that about sums up the value of the mag now days.

A damn shame though. Used to be a pretty decent magazine that went deeper than maximum pc did.
