Question about cmd.exe loading....

I've never had this issue before.... I just reinstalled win2kpro and every time windows loads up, i see a blank black screen that says

C:\Winnt\system32\cmd.exe on the very top bar...

it shows up for about 5 seconds then disappears... i've never experienced this before and was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what this is and how to get rid of it...

CMD.exe is the command to open a CLI, DOS like prompt.

Weird though. I poked around and Nimda and Code Red virus's searched for that line or something like that. Try an antivirus scanner even though you just reinstalled.

I am assuming you reformatted also prior to reinstalling 2000 and still need to reinstall all your programs. If so I don't see how it could be a virus, but I can't find any other info.


Some one must of had this before. Hopefully they can help, I am interested also.

yeah i found a virus.... weird huh?

it was found in c:\winnt\web\printers\images\web.swf

it won't let me clean it... so i might as well just delete the file i guess....

yup...

looks like i had irc running in the background w/o me knowing.... dunno how that happened... it was installed in the folder i had mentioned before... so i uninstalled it and got rid of it... i think that'll fix my problem...
