There's a slightly higher risk of penile carcinoma in uncirc'ed people but otherwise it's more of a cultural thing.

One really gross anecdote, there was this one guy who was having surgery on his arm and the nurses were putting in a catheter into his bladder for the procedure. Now this guy was a paraplegic and couldnt take care of himself so when there tried to retract his foreskin it was stuck. They called a urologist in, and he yanked back on the foreskin and about 2 tablespoons of the worst smelling cheese came out. It was nearly vomit inducing.
