Question about CD-RW capacity.

I have a CD-RW disk that says it holds 650MB on the label. When I go into My Computer and right click on the drive with the disk in it and look at the properties, it says that the disk has used space of 443MB, free space of 90MB and a capacity of 534MB. What happened to the other 116MB?

what program did you use to burn information to it?

If you used a packet-writing program like DirectCD or InCD, then part of the space is allocated
right off to keep the file index updated when you copy and move files on the CD.

I used Adaptec DirectCD to format the disk. You mean it takes over 100MB of space just for indexing??

Correct, all packet-writing software does that.
