question about Carfax

On Carfax's website it says that they found out about car accidents from the DMV. I was just curious how the DMV finds out about the accident.

Only if you got a ticket. Thats all I can think of. If it wasn't your fault, and you didn't get a ticket in the accident, I don't think they can track it. Or if they can, I have no clue how.

so lets say someone had a recent car accident and and they fix the car and before I buy the car, carfax shows the car as a clean record but within a few weeks/months it shows up that there was an accident.

Is there a way to get my money back or am I sh|t out of luck.

carfax does offer the 30 day buyback gaurantee on select cars -- so yes, if you found out it was trash, i assume carfax could bail you out.
