Question about buying a new oem processor and heatsinks...

So I've decided to buy the $139 Fx-55 From newegg. This processor is OEM and im currently using a stock heatsink/fan on my 3200+. When i buy this new processor, do i need to buy a new heatsink to accompany it? Or can i simply take the heatsink off the 3200+ and put it on the Fx-55? If that is not possible, can you link me some good heatsinks that arent ridiculously expensive (aka zalman's). Thanks.

Mm, thanks. Is it possible to just buy arctic silver 5 and use it with my current Heatsink? Or will that not work.

To be honest I'm not sure of the capabilities of AMD stock HSF configurations. So I can't give a direct yes or no answer but....
In theory, I suppose that could work though. Get some other opinions first though before you commit.

Edit: Does that heatsink you listed come with thermal compound? Or do i need to buy some AS5?

I think it comes with the Arctic Silver MX-1 paste pre-applied just like the Freezer 7 Pro for Intel CPU's.

It will work fine as long as you clean off the old thermal paste with some 91% isopropyl alcohol and properly apply the as5. Although the Freezer pro is a good cooler and its probably worth the 30 bucks.

Any idea how far i could safely OC the fx-55 to on the stock heatsink and how much farther i could go with the Freezer pro? I don't plan on doing a lot of Overclocking, Probably 2.8-3.0.

You definitely wouldn't be able to overclock with the stock heatsink. As a matter of fact, you'd probably have to underclock to ~2.4 Ghz, to have acceptable temps.

edit: That assumes that you're talking about the "normal", all aluminum stock heatsink. If you happen to be talking about the heatpipe heatsink that comes with the dual-core Opterons, then it should be fine for around 2.8 Ghz, since the FX-55 is a single-core.
