question about burner... please help!

HI anandtec'ers, I really need your guys help so I appreciate greatly if someone can offer me some advice. so here it goes. after i reformatted my computer, my burner has been lagging my computer.. like when i burn, i dont get the 40x speed and eats up my cpu. its not supposed to happen since its a liteon and its win xp compatible. (When I first had my lite-on from dell, it burned find). BUt once I messed with the computer, I think I might have switched the Cables on the dvd rom and the CD Burner. Also, when I checked the Device manager, the Device 0 is DMA mode, and Device 1 is PIO only. IS it possible that it won't lag if I switch the cables? Sorry if I cannot describe this any better. I'm not too great inthe teachnical terms. Please help. thank you.

This deosnt really belong in HT but it looks like your using a 40 pin cable for an 80 pin device. Either switch the cables around or buy a new set (the DVD drive should really be on 80 pin as well).
