When i drill the four holes around the blowhole for the fangrill, are the same holes used to secure the fan on the other side? so when i attach the fangrill to the holes, do i use the same screw to secure the fan?

if not, then how do i secure a fan onto the sheet metal. i'll probably be using self-tapping screws

thx in advance

yes. screws go through grill, through case metal, and into the holes in the fan.

i recommend going to your local HW store and finding a set of nuts and bolts with the same diameter as the hole, with these you can easily add washers and an additional fan grill on the inside of the case

Rubber Gromets are also a great idea to use on those screw holes. It cuts down on noise/vibration. I think 5/16" are the appropriate size to use, but take a screw with you to your local hardware store to be sure. Good Luck! :D

I found something a bit better than rubber grommets for my case. Thin enough to ensure that the fan is close to the top of the case... tiny O-Rings. They are are thick enough to minimize vibration and keep the fan close enough to ensure all the air is going out of the case.

I put bolts through top grill and case, then o-ring, fan, o-ring, bottom grill, o-ring washer and nut. Plenty clean and vibration free.

Try 8-32 bolts 1.5" long. Should work fine if your drill bit was just about the size of the hole on your grill you used as a guide.
