Question about basic carpentry

I had my kitchen tiled last week and I'm doing the base molding myself but the base molding I picked out is 5+ inches tall and my miter saw will only go about 85% of the way through the molding when I try to do the angled cuts. Straight cuts are no problem because I can lay the molding flat and bring the blade down onto it. Any ideas how to best make the rest of the cut? I tried flipping the molding upside down but it is difficult to line the blade up exactly this way.

This may be a stupid question, but does your saw cut on a bevel? Then you can lay the board flat and still cut it at an angle.

It's a mitre saw, like this one.

Looks like a compound saw to me. Why can't you lay the piece flat and tip the blade left or right (as opposed to turning it)?

If the one you linked is the same as the one you have, then like the above poster said, you should be able to tilt the blade and cut it while it lays flat (aka, a bevel cut)

Yes, on the back of your saw theres a silver thingy you can loosen and then tilt the blade. there should even be a guage telling you what degree. It'll do atleast 45 degrees. If thats the 12" miter saw, which I think it is(705) I have it and it works like a charm.

Sorry, I guess I didn't read the link I posted very well. I do not have a compound mitre saw, I have a regular mitre saw. I talked to a friend of mine though who has a compound mitre saw so I am going to borrow his to complete the job.

The trouble with that is that when I make a cut I might need to trim just a hair more off to get the piece to fit perfectly. You can't do that with a hand saw.
