Question about bank security

Why do some banks have the front counter completely wide open, no barrier, while some have like a 10 foot double enforced plexiglass barrier??? Coincidentally the ones that have no barrier are the ones that get robbed all the time.

Now you can say maybe because some banks are older, but a newer Wachovia just put in here has no protection, seems not safe at all.

no not in the ghetto here, my main bank is Chevy Chase, they have them in most of their banks

My bank has bullet proof glass. There are no homes within 5 miles in any direction worth less than $500,000.00.

My hometown is filled with rich white people and has virtually no crime whatsoever, save for the occasional DUI or fight at the local high school. The Wachovia in the town has a plexiglass shield in front of the teller counter... conversely, the TD Bank in the town has a completely open counter, no protection whatsoever.

TD Bank used to be Commerce Bank, which was founded 30 years ago on the premise of being a "customer friendly" bank with a homely feel. Thats why you will never see barriers in front of tellers at TD Banks. Not for now anyway.

I refuse to bank anywhere that I can't interact with the teller like a normal person. Some people feel differently. I'm assuming the number of people like me and their money outweighs the risk of a robbery.
