Hi,
I'm thinking about getting one of these bad boys, but I've heard a lot of bad things about Creative drivers and their efficiency in system resource use. Has anyone had any truble with the card taking up more resources than it's supposed to?
Also someone mentioned to me that there are custom-written drivers for the Audigy2 series that are far better than Creative drivers. I haven't had much luck finding this mystery driver, so I was wondering if anyone else has heard about it.
Thanks all,
N

I have an Audigy 2 ZS. Yes the software is bloated but you can choose not to intall things like the Mediasource player during install. Also after installing you should go into your startup programs list (use a program like Startup Control Panel) and deselect starting some of the unneeded apps like CTDVDDET and CTsysvol.

As far as initial memory requirements go, it isn't too bad when compared to software like Norton Sysworks, or Catalyst Control Panel, etc.

I never had a problem with drivers. I just installed what they told me to install, but I hardly ever use any of their software. I only use their utilities.
